CAVALIER GARDEN AND PERFORMANCE SPACE

Outside the halls of JSEC the Cavalier Garden and Performance Space has become a center for students and faculty to share experiences of learning, growth and community engagement. The garden is lead by Ben Gormley, but much of the planting and harvesting is done by the students.  “I also learned how to plant inside, which is something that I’ve always wanted to do,” says student Jennifer Germosen. A variety of fruits and vegetables are produced by the garden each season and some are donated to local food pantries. Gormley also intends it to be a multipurpose area where classes, concerts, and other events can be held. Students were involved in adding a stage, picnic tables, and a backdrop.
